| Our rescue program uses foster homes instead of shelters. We try to find homes for rescued ferrets (surrendered or picked up from Animal Control) as soon as possible toavoid a back log. In desperate straits we turn to another shelter for help and vice versa.Although our numbers seem low at this point, it fluctuates greatly over the year. LastNovember we were inundated with 25 ferrets! We expect an onslaught of unwanted ferretsas school lets out and families go away for vacations. We pay for surgeries of ferrets needing medical care before they can be adopted and all our ferrets are immediately vaccinated upon arrival with rabies and distemper and seen by our vet to determine health. The club has many fun raisers during the year to pay for these costs and only asks for a minimal adoption fee which covers the cost of the rabies and distemper shots. We are a non-profit agency and gladly provide a receipt for income tax purposes for all donations Nigel Potter - Webmaster Circle City Ferret Club www.circlecityferretclub.org |
